
On May 06, 2025 in Tashkent a handover ceremony of advanced IT and data infrastructure equipment was held.
The delivered equipment, purchased by CADAP for national partners of Uzbekistan includes a comprehensive set of modern IT, multimedia, and analytical tools tailored to the operational needs of key national institutions working in drug policy coordination, monitoring, treatment and prevention. This strategic support is aimed at enhancing the country’s capabilities in real-time data exchange, interagency cooperation, and evidence-based decision-making across institutions of national and subnational level responsible for drug policy coordination and service delivery.
Uzbek officials expressed deep appreciation for the European Union’s continuous support. They emphasised that Uzbekistan values its rapidly developing partnership with EU Member States, viewing it not only as a partnership policy cooperation but also as an essential element of systematic collaboration in countering drug threats and transnational organised crime in tackling issues of common concern.
Mr Ravshan Mamatov, Director of the National Center on Drug Control under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (main national partner of CADAP 7) stated that “The specialised equipment provided today will not only enhance our analytical capabilities but also strengthen inter-agency collaboration and enable real-time information exchange. We are grateful to the European Union for its comprehensive support in countering drug threats.”
Dr Furkat Bakhramov, Representative of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Mental Health, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan: “For many years, we have maintained a productive partnership with the CADAP Programme, and today’s event is a clear testament to the tangible outcomes of this collaboration.”
On behalf of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr Wim Riepma, Head of Cooperation, emphasised the long-term commitment between the EU and Uzbekistan to work on a joint strategy to strengthen prosperity and security in the Central Asian region. Mr Riepma mentioned that the EU-funded CADAP represents a very good example of how good results can be achieved in addressing areas of common interest and by tackling challenges together.
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ms Asunción Sánchez Ruiz, Chargée d’Affaires a.i. of Spain to Uzbekistan and Mr Ernest Robelló, Director of CADAP 7; as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Mahalla Foundation, and the National Center on Drug Control.
