
A ceremony for the official handover of a new minivan took place on August 25, 2025, in Bishkek. The vehicle was delivered to the Counter Drug Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Kyrgyz Republic. This donation is the result of the long-standing and sustainable cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union on drug action-related issues.
The minivan was provided through the Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP 7), which is funded by the European Union. Its purpose is to strengthen the material and technical resources of the MIA and increase its mobility, helping it more effectively carries out its drug prevention and enforcement duties.
The event was attended by officials, including Mr Nurlan Turusbekov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Counter Drug Service; Mr Cosimo Lamberti, European Union Programme Manager in the Kyrgyz Republic; and Mr Ernest Robello, Director of CADAP 7.
CADAP is a long-term initiative of the European Union that supports Central Asian countries in their efforts to address drug-related challenges.
The programme supports various areas, including drug policy, data, treatment, and prevention, by facilitating the exchange of experience, promoting best international practices, providing staff training, and offering technical equipment to relevant departments.
