The 3rd meeting of the Programme steering committee  took place in Bukhara

The availability of most illegal drugs remains high, and the scale and complexity of their production in Europe is growing. Almost anything with psychoactive potential can be a drug. The great diversity and availability of use creates new challenges for health and politics. This danger can affect everyone, directly or indirectly” – EU Drugs Agency 

“In 2023, the internal affairs bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic identified 1,314 drug-related crimes, seized more than 6.5 tons of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors from illegal circulation. 12 underground drug laboratories illegally producing drugs of plant and synthetic origin were liquidated, 84 criminal drug groups have been arrested”  – Counter-drug Service of the Ministry of Interior of the Kyrgyz Republic

✅ “The contingent of persons under dynamic observation with the diagnosis of “Mental disorders due to drug use in Kazakhstan as of 2023 is 18,329 persons”  – Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan

✅ “In the Republic of Tajikistan, the age structure of drug addiction has its own characteristics. The proportion of people aged 18-34 years  decreased in favor of people aged 35-59 years. Along with the “aging of drug addiction”, there was a decrease in the primary morbidity rate. This fact, first of all, indicates the stabilization of the situation with drug use”  – Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan

✅ “Recently, we have seen that more and more types of drugs are appearing. First of all, these are new psychoactive substances, amphetamine and methamphetamine are of greatest concern. The whole difficulty is that if the region has extensive experience in treating disorders associated with heroin and opioids, the type of treatment for these new substances is completely different”  – Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic
